Alek Wek, born April 16, 1977, in Wau, Sudan. Immigrated to England in 1991. Big break came in 1995, discovered by a Models One scout while at a London party.

Alek was signed to Ford Models in 1996. She is the recipient of the 'Venus de la Mode' award.

She has graced the runway for Baby Phat, Chado Ralph Rucci, Chanel, Custo Barcelona, Diane von Furstenberg, Dries van Noten, Ermanno Scervino, Esteban Cortazar, Fendi, Gai Mattiolo, Gianfranco Ferre, Kai Milla, Kenneth Cole, Kenzo, Richard Tyler, Roberto Menichetti and Salvatore Ferragamo.

Alek was featured in campaigns for Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, Clinique 'Happy' fragrance, Ellus, Fashion Breast Cancer Campaign, Gap, Issey Miyake, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Joop!, Kitsho, Michael Kors, Moschino, Nars, Ralph Lauren, Saks Fifth Avenue and XOXO jeans.
